New Versions, New Release Scheme

April 2008

A new version of all of our applications is available!

Along with this release we've moved to a version scheme where all applications are released simultaneously. Now you can always match up your version of Solstice with the version of any application.

Five New Tools Released

August 2007

Along with a new version of Solstice, we have released five new educational tools:

  • Collect It - create dropboxes to collect homework online
  • GoPost - create online discussion forums
  • File Manager - manage local and remote filesystems
  • ShareSpaces - create spaces to share and collaborate on files
  • QuickPoll - create quick, one-question polls

Closer YahooUI Integration

April 2007

The Yahoo! UI Library is now the official javascript library of the Solstice development framework. This move to the Yahoo! UI Library will help us to standardize the look and feel of Solstice tools, as well as to make it easier for developers to create rich, interactive applications. Additionally, we have retired the separate YahooUI application and the JSCalendar application in favor of the included YahooUI calendar. If you need access to this code, please use the Contact and Help information to ask us about it.

New Tools Released

January 2007

We have added to our list of open source Solstice applications with the release of WebQ, the largest tool our group maintains. You can use it to create and administer surveys and quizzes and to manage the response data they generate.

Along with WebQ, we've released Crowds and YahooUI, two applications that provide centralized functionality that is used in WebQ. Crowds can be used in your applications to provide consistent management of lists of users, and YahooUI helps you add more rich client-side interactivity to your tools.

Solstice and the rest of the tools underwent a version upgrade at the same time, so be sure to upgrade and give us feedback.

All the new applications and versions can be found on our Download page.

New Site!

January 2007

A new Solstice-driven site helps us automate releases and, eventually, online documentation.
